Photo's of the Week
Week 1: Fall-ing for you
Portfolio Photos
I Saw that there was a really pretty sunset so I went for a short walk and found this plant that looks like little dead flowers. I like how you can just see the sunset in the background but the plant is still the center of attention
Frost makes things look like they're frozen in time and in this photo it looks like the plant was trying to grow but it was stopped and it will have to remain this way until the warm weather rolls around and melts it.
I think the depth of field is really cool in this photo and the sky is barely edited, although it looks it. I love how the tree trunk is in focus and as you move up the tree it slowly it gets more and more blurred
I took this photo of my step-sisters eye for my opposites, I really like how you can see the detail in her iris and her freckles.
I love how dramatic this photo turned out and the emphasis on the flame.
Arctic Monkeys are my favourite band so i thought it would be fun to take a photo of one of there vinyls. Although you can't see the album cover i really like the shine on the record.
This photo was taken for my gratitude photos and the dramatic lighting was kind of accidental but I think it turned out really cool
The colours of the leaves in this photo are really pretty but I like that they aren't in focus and that the detail in the bark is centre stage
Famous Photographer with Maya: Sarah Silver
Loved taking these portraits of Yazmin, they have such a sophisticated, grown up feel to them even though she's only in grade 8. Overall I was really happy with the quality of the photos from this shoot.
Typology:
Easily one of my favourites from this year, It was relaxing walking through my neighbourhood with my camera looking for cool street signs. I like the contrast between all of the photos but also the similarities that bring them all together as a typology. Also black and white gave it a really uniform and cohesive feel.
Music:
Although I'm a huge fan of sad music, nothing can make me feel better than some happy tunes. I took photos of flowers in my backyard whilst listening to the album "Pretty. Odd." by Panic! at the Disco. No better combo than nature and happy folk songs to lighten my mood.
Social Issue:
For my social issue project I decided to tackle the subject of eating disorders. As someone who has personally struggled vastly with my weight and body image this is extremely close to my heart. I can get in these routines of being obsessed with my weight as a number and it becomes completely consuming. It takes a lot for me to just ignore what the scale says and love my body, to some the idea seems impossible with makes me terribly sad.
Culture:
My dad loves to cook, My family loves to eat...it's the perfect combo. Sundays wouldn't be the same without my dad spending all day in the kitchen making a mess, its become a family tradition that we all look forward too, eating a big homemade supper on sunday evening and watching The Big Bang Theory together..
